We're calling on the NSW Government to:
Repeal the amendments to the State Environmental Planning Policy (Planning Systems) 2021, so that the 227.3ha of land in the Northern Beaches is no longer subject to the Development Delivery Plan;
Work with the owners of the land, Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council, to find an alternative means of realising a fair and timely income from their landholdings, while retaining the bushland located on the Northern Beaches. This could take the form, for example, of leasing or purchasing the land as a new National Park, compensating MLALC for the loss of development potential, or a land swap for a developable site elsewhere that has no conservation value.
Our petition has officially received over 12,000 signatures, and was tabled in NSW Parliament by Michael Regan MP and debated on Thursday 29 June at 4PM. The Youtube video below contains a recording of speeches by Michael Regan MP for Wakehurst, Matt Cross MP for Davidson, Rory Amon MP for Pittwater and James Griffin MP for Manly, and the reply from the Minister for Planning Paul Scully.
