How to take action to save Lizard Rock

There are three actions you can take to help save Lizard Rock:

1) 📣 URGENT❗Write to the Minister for Emergency Services

2) Mail a Paper Lizard to the Minister for Planning

3) Write to the other Ministers responsible

1) Write to the Emergency Services Minister

The proposal currently hinges on the position of the NSW Rural Fire Service.  We are encouraging people to write to the Minister responsible for emergency services, The Hon Jihad Dib MP, and ask him to:

  • Urge the RFS to continue to oppose this project and avoid building homes where we know future residents will be at risk of bushfire with limited evacuation options.
  • Consider his duty of care to the employees and volunteers with RFS and NSW Fire+Rescue whose lives will be put at risk defending this site from bushfires.

If you need help writing a letter, we have a template linked below which you can copy paste.

2) Help us mail 1,000 paper lizards to Minister for Planning, Paul Scully, asking him to save Lizard Rock.

It's our twist on the traditional Japanese folk practice of folding a 1,000 paper cranes for good health and peace.

The land at Lizard Rock is mapped as bushfire risk by Northern Beaches Council. It is unacceptable to build new housing estates in areas of high risk, and put RFS volunteers and Fire+Rescue employees lives at risk defending the properties.
